Lloyd "Buddy" Stemple

Vice Presiden/General Manage, Novelis Specialty Products Group

Lloyd A. "Buddy" Stemple has been the Vice President and General Manager of Novelis Specialty Products Group since October 1, 2004. This business serves a variety of markets including automotive, transportation, building and construction, industrial and many distribution segments.

Mr. Stemple has been with Novelis (previously Alcan) since 1983 holding various managerial positions in Engineering, Human Resources and Labor Relations, Operations and Sales and Marketing. He is Chairman of the Sheet & Plate Committee of the Aluminum Association, a member of the Auto and Light Truck Group and a member of the Board of Pathfinder Bank Holding Company (PBHC).

Born in 1960, Mr. Stemple holds an MBA and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University in the United States, a Diploma from INSEAD in France and a Masters in International Management from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Mr. Stemple will explain how the Road Ahead is Lighter and Brighter with greater use of aluminum, how the industry can take advantage of the opportunities in the many markets served by aluminum, and what to expect in the future.

Colonel (Ret.) Richard "Mike" Mullane

Former NASA Astronaut

In honor of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) 50-year anniversary in October 2008, ET '08 has invited an appropriate and exciting speaker. After distinguished service in the United States Air Force, Colonel Mike Mullane was selected as a Mission Specialist in 1978 in the first group of Space Shuttle Astronauts. He completed three space missions, logging more than 350 hours in space aboard the Shuttles Discovery and Atlantis before retiring from NASA and the Air Force in 1990.

During his successful career Mike received many honors including induction into the International Space Hall of Fame. Since his retirement, Mike has written a number of books about his experiences, including a popular space-fact book, Do Your Ears Pop in Space? and his memoir, Riding Rockets, The Outrageous Tales of a Space Shuttle Astronaut. Mike also served as a host for Inside Space, a nationally syndicated cable television program on the USA Network.

Colonel Mullane will share accounts of his time in space, teamwork, trust, and leadership in this entertaining presentation featuring NASA video that will inspire laughter and spine-tingling suspense.
