ET Foundation Issues Call for Abstracts for ET '12

Wauconda, Illinois (December 20, 2010) - The Extrusion Technology for Aluminum Profiles Foundation (ET Foundation) has issued its Call for Abstracts to the international aluminum extrusion industry. Prospective contributors are invited to submit abstract of papers to be considered for presentation at the Tenth International Aluminum Extrusion Technology Seminar, commonly known as ET '12. The forthcoming edition of the quadrennial event is scheduled for May 15 through 18, 2012 at the Fontainebleu Miami Beach in Miami, Florida, USA. The ET Foundation is accepting abstract submissions exclusively via a collection website specially designed for the purpose and accessible via the ET ’12 website, www.ET12.org. The deadline to submit abstracts is January 31, 2011.

Presentations at ET ’12 are expected to address topics specifically related to aluminum extrusion, such as new processes or techniques, the use of new and updated equipment, best practices, sustainability and environmental issues, market developments, product applications, metallurgical and manufacturing research, emerging technology, and more.

Selected authors will be invited to submit technical papers based on abstracts reviewed by the ET Seminar Committee, which is comprised of aluminum extrusion industry professionals and academics involved in extrusion and related research. Final manuscripts will be accepted based on criteria such as relevance, usefulness, uniqueness, accuracy, focus, quality, and noncommercial tone and content.

Papers of a technical, practical, operational or theoretical nature will be invited for ET ‘12. While original research is the hallmark of the ET Seminar, the Committee also seeks review papers that analyze and summarize previously published literature. “First and foremost, we are looking for authors whose work raises the level of knowledge, quality, and performance within the industry,” said ET Seminar Committee Chairman Jim Sanderson of Aluminum Consulting – James Sanderson, Inc. in Huntington Beach, California.

Accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings of ET '12, distributed to all delegates. Based on the papers received, presentations at ET ’12 likely will be categorized in subject groups, including Billet Process & Equipment, Extrusion Equipment, Extrusion/Die Practical, Extrusion/Die Theoretical, Management Issues, Value-Added Processes, Sustainability & Recycling, and Extrusion Applications & Design. For more than 40 years, ET papers have delivered cutting-edge information and problem-solving resources for the industry; ET Proceedings have become one of the industry's most valuable resources and are frequently referenced in other technical publications. The ET Seminar is considered by many to be the premier venue for presenting aluminum extrusion technical research.

The Call for Abstracts was sent in December to nearly 6,000 past ET Seminar participants, aluminum extrusion industry professionals, academics, and others; it is available to download from www.ET12.org. Authors interested in submitting an abstract for consideration should follow the instructions on the “Authors” page of the ET ’12 website. The preliminary deadline for receipt of abstracts is January 31, 2011. Authors whose abstracts have been selected will be notified on or about April 17, 2011 and will be invited to submit a technical paper based on the approved abstract. Final manuscripts will be due in September 2011.
