Comparative Study of Electrostatic Applicators for Vertical Powder Paint Systems; Traditional Multi-Gun Applicators versus the Single Overflow Bed Disk System

Carlo Zuchetti, Nicola Navarra -- Trasmetal SpA, Italy;
Jonathan Burkett -- HiEx Engineering, USA

The Over Flow Bed (O.F.B.) Disk, an electrostatic spraying device for vertical powder paint lines is discussed, and the O.F.B. booth is described. The charge’s electrostatic force in the powder paint is detailed. Structure, materials, and philosophy of this vertical powder paint application system are explained, specific to aluminum profiles. Test results comparing overflow bed disk to traditional multi-gun systems help explain system characteristics.
