The Extrusion Benchmark conference/exhibition (Bologna September 2007) provides information on commercial extrusion software codes’ reliability/effectiveness, connecting international experts on their use and development. Inputs for running simulations are reported and reviewed, including suggestions for die design, material flow stress, friction conditions, and heat exchanges. University of Dortmund test results are discussed based on profile length, exiting temperature, profile distortions, press load, and metal pressure.
