Development of the Latest Heat Exchanger Tube

Kimihisa Hiramoto -- Showa Denko K.K., Japan

Aluminum-alloy extruded tubes and their cross-sections, used for automotive air-conditioners etc., are smaller, making heat exchangers lighter and improving their performance. Extrusion tube technology produces highly corrosion-resistant tubes with smaller cross-sections. Simulation technology is used to develop a new die structure, enabling optimum tube extrusion. Technology is presented that improves tubes’ corrosion resistance and reduces the amount/variations of attached zinc.
