Extrusion/Die Practical 076 PR Seam Welds Modeling and Mechanical Properties Prediction in the Extrusion of AA6082 Alloy Lorenzo Donati and Luca Tomesani -- University of Bologna, Italy Modeling seam-weld formation in aluminum extrusion, and evaluating related mechanical properties is examined. The relationship between die design and local welding parameters is investigated. Local welding conditions are evaluated using thermo-mechanical 3-D FEM process simulation. Resulting mechanical properties are discussed with respect to local welding conditions. Criteria for assessing welding quality and predictability of high-speed damage cracking are discussed. |
