Management Issues 004 MI Upcoming Structural Design Rule Changes Impacting Aluminum Extrusions J. Randolph Kissell, PE -- The TGB Partnership, USA; Michael Skillingberg -- The Aluminum Association, USA The Aluminum Association’s Aluminum Design Manual (ADM) contains the reorganized “Specification for Aluminum Structures.” The International Building Code requires specification compliance, and changes directly affect all aluminum extrusion building applications in the United States. The ADM reorganization unifies allowable stress design, and load and resistance factor design methods, paralleling the American Institute of Steel Construction’s design approach. Upcoming publication changes are previewed. |
