Extrusion Equipment 132 EE Abrasive Flow Machining Jim Lundstedt -- Aluminum Shapes, USA Some extruders/die-makers understand Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) and its limitations. Process application and test results on new dies at the die-maker and extruder are discussed. AFM utilization on new dies is presented from die-maker and extruder perspectives. Steps to improve bearing effectiveness are reviewed. In die correction, nitrided surface AFM is shown to minimize hand work required to achieve excellent surface quality. |
