New Generation of Matte Alloys from Alcan

Alcan’s new 6xxx alloys maintain mechanical and performance characteristics; AA6060, AA6005A, AA6463A, and newly-registered AA6360 enter U.S. markets. High-performance alloys within existing AA-alloy chemistries are developed. Alcan R&D’s new method imparts improved, consistent matte finish to high-performance alloy anodized extrusions, alleviating color mismatches encountered using conventional alloys. Ranges of elements and impurities control for successful alloy performance in matte finish are highlighted.
